Our Mission

To empower youth through voice that was once tradition in the days of Cherokee Grand Council.

 

Our Vision

The Cherokee Youth Council will produce a selfless, giving generation that is grounded in cultural and traditional values.

 

Our Goals

The objectives of this group shall be:

  • To provide a collective voice and represent tribal youth in all matters that concern them.

  • To serve as a means of mobilizing and coordinating the actions of tribal youth, other community members, and organizations towards positive goals.

  • To promote the development of future leaders.

  • To help solve problems facing youth.

  • To coordinate community service projects and provide opportunities for the youth to interact, develop leadership skills and cultural education.

Membership Requirements
 
  • Potential youth council members must be interviewed and voted in consensus of approval to successfully join the CYC program and receive CYC opportunities and benefits.

 

  • Potential youth council members are required to complete and submit an application for enrollment before youth may participate in any CYC events, activities, or meetings.

 

  • All Required documentation must be completed before acceptance in the CYC program.

    • Overnight Stay Permission Form

    • Photography Consent Form

  • The group shall consist of primarily youth members between the ages of 12-18 years of age unless determined otherwise by the Cherokee Youth Council. 

  • Each youth member is required to uphold 110 points per 6 months period/fiscal year to uphold membership in the Cherokee Youth Council.
